Riverside Cardiology Associates

Riverside Cardiology Associates was formed in 1989 by Dr. Pond and Dr. Chen.

Dr. Malcolm S. Pond graduated from Yale University and the Johns Hopkins University Medical School, and received his medical degree in 1973. He completed his residency training and cardiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins, and is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), and has practiced in Riverside since 1978.

Dr. Chiayu Chen graduated from Johns Hopkins University and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his residency training at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and his cardiology fellowship at George Washington University. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC). He has been in practice in Riverside since 1989.

Marlene Frost received her intial nurses' training in New Hampshire. She completed graduate school at UCLA, specializing as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with a major in cardiology. She has an extensive background in critical care, cardiology, and electrophysiology. She is also certified as a Critial Care Registered Nurse and a Public Helath Nurse. Marlene supervises our lipid, heart failure, and coumadin clinics as well the Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) program.

Special Procedures

We are fully equipped to do treadmill tests, echocardiography, pacemaker follow-up, holter monitoring, ICD follow-up, and other procedures in the office. We perform cardiac catheterization, balloon angioplasty, coronary stents, rotational atherectomy, pacemaker and ICD implantation at Riverside Community Hospital. We care for patients after heart surgery, and aggressively treat cholesterol problems in our lipid clinic. We also care for heart failure patients in our Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) clinic. We supervise the Heart Care Rehab program at Riverside Community Hospital.
